My work of interactive installation "behind a screen" is composed of a dilapidated ancient pavilion of Chinese style, many curtains and a worn red sofa. This phenomenon once appeared in China in its ancient imperial societies in which an empress dowager holding court from behind a screen as the emperor was too young and unfledged. The empress dowager had to interview the ministers, so a curtain was added in front of the dowager to separate her from the other men and keep control of the politics and promulgate laws and regulations. Audience can get involved in my work by sitting in the comfortable sofa and lifting the curtain to have a look at the happening and people outside. Audience may have the feeling of being brought back to the supreme position in ancient China, and experience the excitement of manipulating politics behind the curtain.Red sofa, show now. The whole work also alludes to the dark side of Chinese politics.
